Try this yummy all-season sweet Narali Rice at home – super easy recipe

Serves approx. 5-6 people

INGREDIENTS

  • Basmati Rice – 170gm
  • Hot Water
  • Freshly Grated Coconut – 100gm
  • Grated Jaggery – 300gm
  • Nutmeg Powder – 7gm
  • Ghee – 10gm
  • Raisins – 10gm
  • Cashew Nuts – 10gm

PREPARATION

  1. Wash the rice and allow is to rest for 10 minutes to dry.
  2. Heat half of the ghee in a pot and roast the cloves briefly. Add the rice and lightly roast on a low flame for 5 minutes. Add the hot water (twice the amount of rice or as required) and cook till the rice is soft.
  3. Use some more of the ghee to roast the coconut for 5 to 7 minutes. Add the jaggery and nutmeg powder and cook for 7 to 10 minutes until the jaggery melts and it has mixed properly with the coconut.
  4. Roast the cashew nuts and raisins separately in the remaining ghee, then add them to the coconut and jaggery mixture prepared before this.
  5. Add all of this mixture to the warm rice, mix again well and allow it to rest for 30 minutes for the rice to absorb the liquid. Serve warm.
